Teacher Requests Service Offered

Preschool and elementary teachers may contact the library and request us to pull materials pertaining to a specific theme, subject, or reading level for their classroom. The teacher may then stop by the library to select the 3/4 of the items they like and check them out on their library card for an extended check out time of up to 8 weeks.

You may contact the library by:
  • calling 254-4586, asking for the Youth Department, and stating your request
  • e-mail Youth Librarian lorio@washingtonpubliclibrary.org your request information
  • or faxing the request to 254-4585

Library staff will need 3 days from the time the request is received at the library to pull the requests.

Please provide an expected pick up date with the request. Items will be reshelved 3 days after expected pick up date.

Great Early Literacy Website

I just found this amazing website while researching early literacy. The website is created by Reading Is Fundamental. The Leading To Reading website offers lullabies, stories, nursery rhymes, and finger plays that babies, toddlers, and preschoolers can listen to. Also found on this website are fun games to play. The website also has valuable information for parents. Check out the website at http://www.rif.org/kids/leadingtoreading/en/leadingtoreading.htm.
